Types of Damages

Damages can be categorized in the folowing categories:

Compensatory

compensatory damages is the compensation paid to the applicant by a return to the state where they were before the accident. The attorney must demonstrate that the plaintiff has suffered financial losses due to legitimate injury compensation.

Punitive

Moreover, punitive damages are awarded on a showing that the defendant intentionally caused injury to the plaintiff. Are awarded to punish the defendant for his act of injury. Punitive damages are awarded beyond compensation. The amount of punitive damages depends on the perception of the jury to the extent and intent of injury.

Another categorization of damages is economic damage and noneconomic damages.

Economic

Economic damages are the financial costs incurred by the applicant. They are simple and easy to verify. This includes future costs to be incurred in connection with the damage. This includes medical expenses for treating the injured person, loss of income due to injury, loss of business profits, home health care, the cost of buying a wheelchair and all other costs with an injury report direct.

Uneconomic

Non-economic damages are more subjective and difficult to prove in court. They include both the past and projected pain and suffering, emotional loss, shame because of the disfigurement, anxiety, loss of spouse's company and reduce the enjoyment of life after injury.
